Founded as a “rural cemetery” and considered Brooklyn’s first public park, strolling through Greenwood Cemetery’s rolling hills was a transportative experience, away from the bustle of city life. Watching thousands of fireflies twinkle as the sun set evoked a feeling of spirits returned from the grave. The colony of Monk Parakeets living in the gothic gates only enhances the feeling of magical realism as you leave the noise of the city behind.
